UM Pitch

Martin gave his pitch to BT last week but there hadn't been time for him to receive feedback. He will solicit feedback via email.

Martin gave us his version of an UM pitch. Please access the recording to hear it.

SR update

*Martin, Saq and Jeremy talking this week
*Andreas will begin working with educational aspect once school starts in Oct.

MORE update

*Yousuf's idea is to use DVD as a medium
A voice mailbox for students to call in with their questions and then have a teacher respond would also be a good idea
*Also spoke with person from Digital Studyhall who also felt that DVD is the best way to do it - that's how it's done in India
She wasn't responsive to SMS integration option as it's too expensive in India
Also believes a voice mailbox for students to use would be a good approach
*Greg) Perhaps the students' voicemails could go to a facilitator in a call center who aggregates the questions and might have access to a computer and tiddlywiki - it sounds like some have the infrastructure and some don't, so how can we span the gap so a larger audience can be served? The way they work won't change but will get more efficient with technological advances
*Saq will be concentrating on interface this week and will have an update in 2 weeks

Fundraising

*Very close to having the info sheet completed
*Greg will visit a few organizations in the next 10 days such as Sysco Foundation, an educational foundation, Kaiser foundation
*Looking for partnerships with organizations working on all three levels
where we can engage with organizations at the project level (i.e. MORE prototype or ServiceLink)
On second level, at the infrastructure, providing support for such things as sharing medical records
On third level on fundamental changes of holding items in trust for the community as a whole
*UM is trying to both serve everyone, which is our nonprofit mission and have sustainable resources that are going into care instead of into administrative costs - trying to address 'for profit' and social benefit simultaneously which makes us different from most other organizations
*UM is now officially a 501©3 - meaning donations are tax deductible
*Funding goal for short term
Get five organizations committed to $5000/yr for three years. That equals $75k commitment which roughly matches 'for profit' contributions from BT, Ricoh & others
*Looking to engage more on the project level (actual 'doing') and funding is actually secondary to that

"TW How to" update

*A page has been put up at tiddlywiki.org http://tiddlywiki.org/wiki/How_to where posts made by UM associates in response to TW questions will be posted

*Email address for UM associates to forward "How to" worthy posts to Marianne is mailto:howto@unamesa.org
Marianne will then pare it down to something that is appropriate for a 'How To' stand alone guide
**This will provide a service to all those who post responses so that it's easy

Action Items

SMS aggregation - is the current process a good alternative or do we want to have someone invest in looking at a BT version or another option

Update on TW & SR integration

'''Priya:'''
*Will speak with Martin about BT version and have an update
*Will give personal story in relation to UM - how she see's the organization and her role in it
Cory & Jon
*Let us know if one will be on the call next week - if not, then the technical discussion of SR will take place when you're back (Cory will be back by Oct. 6th)

'''Marianne'''
*Contact Eric to get some content for 'TW How To' site and/or take a few of Eric's recent postings at the TW group and try to integrate them
*Give update on how that works
*Martin or Saq can then give feedback on whether or not that will work out for them

'''Greg'''
*Feedback from first foundations he's spoken with

'''All'''
*Please send recommendations for foundations that should be contacted in this first round to Marianne
